Privacy Policy

Companion is a desk buddy that lives on your Mac. It has no account, no ads, no trackers and no analytics. Almost everything it does happens on your Mac and stays there.

What stays on your Mac

Your settings, schedule, reminders, scratchpad note, focus history, coins and hats are saved in Companion's folder on your Mac (in the app's container). Clipboard snippets are kept in memory only and are forgotten when you turn the clipboard helper off or quit. Soundscapes are generated on your Mac; nothing is streamed. None of this is sent to us or anyone else.

What leaves your Mac, and only if you use it

• Weather (off by default). If you turn on weather reactions, Companion asks Apple Weather (Apple's WeatherKit service) for the weather at the city you pick, using that city's approximate location (rounded to about 1 km). When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to Apple Maps to find it. Companion never uses Location Services, and nothing about you is included. Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy; weather data sources are listed on Apple Weather's attribution page.
• Companion Pro purchases. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store; we never see your name, email or payment details. To confirm what you've unlocked, Companion uses RevenueCat, which receives your App Store purchase receipts, an anonymous app user ID it creates, your device's model and OS version, and your storefront country. This is used only to unlock Pro on your Macs and to restore purchases.

Permissions

All are optional and asked for only when you turn the feature on: Notifications (reminders as macOS banners), Focus status (holding reminders during Focus) and Accessibility (only to paste a clipboard snippet you pick). Music sync, battery and heat reactions, and window-top walks need no permissions; Companion reads only which song is playing, your battery level and temperature state, and the positions of windows (never their contents or titles).

Children

Companion doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can turn off weather at any time in Settings › Behavior. You can delete everything Companion saved by removing the app and its folder (Settings › System › Show Data Folder). Subscriptions are managed and canceled in your App Store account settings.
